Setting up 2-Factor authentication in WordPress
We have a company-wide initiative to increase the security on our websites by enforcing 2-Factor authentication for all content users. I know this adds an extra step to the login process, but we appreciate the understanding in keeping our customer’s data secure.
You will need to enter an authentication code each time you log into a WordPress website. This authentication code will be sent to the email associated with the account.
If you prefer, you may also set up a ‘time-based password’ using an Authenticator app on your phone. Steps to set up this process are below.
How to login with 2-Factor using an app (if desired)
- Download an Authenticator app on your phone. A popular choice is the Google Authenticator App for iPhone or Android.
- Navigate to your website login screen and login with your credentials.
- Click Profile.

4. Check Enabled next to Time Based One-Time Password, and select Primary if you would like TOTP to be the primary form of authentication.

5. Open the Authenticator app and scan the QR code.
6. Enter the authentication code displayed in the app and click Submit.
